This shoot was inspired by my Moscow school and the nostalgic memories of my tenth grade. That year was full of adventure, experiencing youth and being hooligans. I tried to capture everything that we used to do: missing classes, hiding for a smoke and hanging out behind garages. I would say this shoot is a bit documentary because I recorded the real places and spirit of that time.

Rankin exhibition and snooker!

My friend Alena and I were chosen for the Rankin exhibition. The Dazed TV Party was amazing and fun. We were really satisfied with the prints and frames. We met the very talented Cameron Alexander who also was chosen with his beautiful shot of Callum Wilson. By the time all the drinks were finished we aimed towards Dalston and the pool hall with lots of fries in our hands!!

The whole thing was filmed by Dazed TV and it will be out tomorrow at 7.00 pm

Krishna

This story was inspired by the Indian playful God Krishna. The iconography of Krishna usually depicts him with blue skin, adorned with a yellow silk rope and a peacock feather crown. All of these beautiful historical images and striking colours triggered my imagination and I decided to create a series of photographs based on these inspirations. The colourful flowers and repetition of objects were also inspired by the work of French artists & lovers, Pierre et Gilles.

I was inspired by the Russian film 'Sisters'. The strong bond between relatives. I have been through a lot in my life and my sister was the most supportive person. Now we are older and living separate lives. I wanted to show some of the fun things which I did with my sister: doing each others hair, hanging out in our bedroom, dressing up and going out to eat. So here are my memories, enjoy!

While we were in Moscow we got really inspired by Russian podiezd, houses and yards. So what is a Russian " podiezd? It is an entrance to the typical Moscow house. Usually these entrances are really dirty with Soviet decorations but at the same time inspirational.

Russian Dacha

A Dacha is a place in the countryside where Russians like to spend holidays, especially in summer. Most houses are small and wooden, usually with a garden at the back where people grow vegetables. It’s common for many families to send their children to the Dacha for the whole summer. I used to cry when my parents sent me there but in the end I didn’t want to come back to town. I spent half of my childhood in the Dacha , climbing the trees and building dens. It was a bright time in my life, though I once saw our neighbour dead and eaten by rats and my grandmother had a mental disorder which scared me so much that I always tried to escape from her room in our Dacha’s house. Once she told me that she saw somebody’s eyes on the wall.

Going to the zoo

I wanted to do a shoot with animals a long time ago. I called the pet agency and was told that to rent a dog would cost £250 per hour plus travel expenses. Amazing! I even considered buying a dog and opening my own agency. As we all know dreams come true in Moscow. Even though I thought that all the animals in the Moscow zoo died a long time ago, leaving only smell, it wasn’t true. My friend Mona got into the zoo for free by pretending to be a school child and I had to pay £4 to get in. We met many cute animals which made our day.

Viy is a Russian horror film was made in 1967 and based on the Nikolai Gogol story.
I really like the atmosphere of this scene. Every detail makes me inspired.
